Fortunately, I had the opportunity to partake in many frugal activities this week, so I'd say this was a terrifically frugal week.
Here's what I did frugally this past week:
Sunday-
I dumpster dove some shirts to use for fabric for a craft I had in mind.
I got some free apples.
Served leftovers- no cooking new.
I had a friend, who is a professional makeup artist, give me free makeup lessons (I offered to pay); she gave me free makeup and brushes that she had and didn't use. She also learned reflexology, and gave me a reflexology session as well.
I mended a shirt I wanted to wear.
I went to a free foraging walk given by a friend, who is a local foraging expert, and learned about a few new local plants.
I foraged St John's Wort (on the foraging walk).
Monday-
I mended a shirt I wanted to wear.
Revamped leftovers were served for lunch.
I went to the farmer's market and got a bunch of cheapo veggies from the past prime stall.
I "dumpster dove" some veggies from the trash cart in the farmer's market.
I bought a bunch of cheap stuff at the scratch and dent store.
Made a bean dish using leftover rice, home frozen cooked black beans, homemade cajun seasoning, and a bunch of veggies that needed to be cooked immediately.
Tuesday-
Dumpster dove (from next to the dumpster) a pair of kid's goggles, a skirt, and a tablecloth.
Cooked up a bunch of cheapo tomatoes that needed to be cooked immediately or would spoil, washed the tomatoes that were touching them, and dried them, so they wouldn't spoil.
Stocked up on cheap fish and cheap chicken and sale beans and rice from the grocery store
Made an iherb order.
Made an ebay order for something cheaper on ebay, even once paying for international shipping, than buying locally.
Made homemade popcorn.
Made coffeebucha.
Wednesday-
Made fruit infused water.
Made homemade popcorn.
Took a not so great watermelon (that I got free at the farmer's market), spiced it up, and baked it to make watermelon sashimi, using my homemade fish sauce.
Used foraged capers to make a sauce for fish.
Made a legume dish.
Set up lentils to soak/sprout.
Served leftovers for supper.
Picked up the mail- my battery free self winding watch that I ordered cheaply from Aliexpress.com.
Foraged capers and lambsquarters.
Went to a cheap swimming session at a local pool that was rented out by a group of friends.
Went to a cheap swimming session at a local pool that was rented out by a group of friends.
Thursday-
Served legumes as the proteins for the meals.
Made homemade vegan mayonnaise.
Made homemade egg replacement for breaded chicken.
Used gluten free bread crumbs I got free from a friend for the chicken.
Made some patties from the bread crumbs and egg replacement left over from breading the chicken.
Friday-
Made homemade chocolate covered popcorn.
Served legumes for lunch, using up leftover veggies that my kids didn't eat for their snack, in the recipe.
Made xanthan gum free, egg free cheap gluten free cookies.
Saturday-
Made St John's Wort tincture.
Treated a diaper rash naturally, without store bought creams, but instead with homemade plantain and coconut oil based salve.
Used the watermelon that was slightly odd tasting to make a watermelon and tomato salad and it tasted just fine that way.
So, what did you do to save money this week?
