We had this peach sauce with my homemade strawberry chocolate cheesecake swirl ice cream, and while each tasted amazing on their own, they were perfection together. This peach sauce, so delicious, is extremely easy to make, to the extent that I almost feel silly sharing the recipe here. It works great as a topping on ice cream, pudding, yogurt, or any cakes or brownies, or even eaten on its own.
And of course, it is paleo, vegan, without any refined sweeteners, etc…
Easy Homemade Peach Sauce Recipe – Paleo, Vegan, Delicious
Ingredients:
7 peaches
1/2 cup jaggery syrup, honey, coconut sugar, or any other sweetener (or to taste)
1 heaping tablespoon potato starch, tapioca starch, or corn starch
Lemon zest from one small lemon (optional)
Instructions:
1. Quarter your peaches and place them in a food processor or blender, pulsing until you have small chunks, roughly the size of peas. Alternatively, chop peaches into very small pieces with a knife.
2. Add the sweetener, and if using a non liquid sweetener, 1/4-1/3 cup water.
3. Bring to a boil and simmer until the peaches have changed color and softened.
4. Remove about a 1/4 cup of liquid from the pot and let cool (if desired), then mix with your starch to make a slurry, mixing well to ensure there are no clumps. (If the liquid is hot this is more likely to get clumpy, but if you want to take the chance, you can add the starch even with hot liquid.) Add the slurry to the pot, mixing frequently, and cooking until it thickens.
5. If desired, add the zest from a small lemon.
6. Serve either hot or cold.
Enjoy!
