I was invited to a get together with a bunch of other women a few hour drive from where I live. I knew I’d be driving there, and when the organizers asked if anyone was willing to give people lifts, I offered to do so, and ended up driving 5 other women up with me.
The women all chipped in to cover gas, so even the gas for the trip ended up being minimal for me.
Before the get together started, we decided to make a fun and frugal girls day together, the girls I drove and myself.

After a long drive there through rolling hills, we went to this “national park” with some archeological remains, as well as hot springs, with a few different mineral baths with different temperatures we could relax in.
We spent some time there, chilling out, in this serene spot, overlooking a beautiful lake.
It was wonderful for my sore body, even if it meant we ended up stinking like rotten eggs. (Why do these places all need to have sulfuric smells?)
This cost only $4 for entry, when across the road there is a spa with bigger pools with this exact water, for much, much more money.

It was a hot day, so we didn’t want to just stay in the hot springs, so we drove a 20 minute drive (and closer to our final destination) and went to another nature sight, a waterfall that splashed into the lake.
The lake is very rocky, and I thought I’d brought my flip flops but didn’t, so it was painful to walk across the rocks…

But it was really beautiful there, the combination of the lush green, the waterfall, the rocky beach, and the lake.

Of course, I just had to go in underneath the waterfall and let it pound onto my head and back. So incredibly refreshing.

After that, we went into the lake and waded a bit, then sitting down in the cool water.
Someone right near us was fishing with just a line and a hook, no pole, and caught a fish right away.
We also saw a duck like bird floating on the water right near us. Possibly a grebe.
Ahh, beautiful nature. Beautiful water. And you know how much I love water.
And did I mention, this was free?
So basically, I had a really nice girls trip, got to do three different things- hot spring, waterfall, and a lake, and it only cost $4? Other than the gas which was about $20.
Totally worth it!
Are you a nature person? A water person? What would you enjoy more, a hot spring, a pounding waterfall, or a lake?
