Hi there everyone! I am so excited to share this post with you, about some frugal and extremely frugal things I did lately! I used to do this on a regular basis, and then my life got super busy and it felt like I didn’t even have time to breathe, let alone do anything particularly frugal… But fortunately I’ve managed to breathe a little again, and because of that, I’ve managed to do these things and I’m glad to be able to share them with you, and hopefully inspire you to do some frugal things too.
Frugal Shopping:
I stocked up on cheap gluten free bread from a super cheap grocery store when I was already in the area, so didn’t need to go out of my way to get there.
I bought beef roast, chicken thighs, potato starch, wine, Pepsi, and grape juice on extreme sale, loss leader style.
Frugal in the Kitchen:

Homemade tomato sauce, apple compote, and gluten free vegan peach blitz cake. |
I cooked up sad apples into a yummy compote.
I used some canned peaches (that a kid opened without my permission, and that I got for free from a friend) to make my versatile fruit blitz cake.
I cooked up some sad tomatoes to make tomato sauce from scratch.
I used up some leftover ground beef crumbles and leftover sautéed onions and peppers (from taco night) to make chili, which I then served over leftover rice.
I bought some bananas and then discovered that though they looked ripe, they actually were still unripe and unpleasant to eat. So I made fried green bananas and then used the peel to make banana peel mock pulled pork (and yes, it was delicious!).
I had some sad oranges, grape fruits, lemons, and clementines, and I squeezed them to make a delicious citrus juice.
Picked some sea beet from my yard and made wild greens ramen.
DIY:
My spare freezer/fridge broke and wasn’t freezing, so I managed to fix it myself and now it works again, without paying a cent.
I made a new bed from scratch all by myself using only materials I already had in the house, and it is amazing!
Others:
I managed to do a grocery shop really quickly during a time that otherwise would have been wasted, so that I was able to get home quicker and pay the babysitter for fewer hours.
I got day passes on the bus to save money on transportation on days when I was traveling a lot.
I took advantage of free busing and took the kids on an awesome and frugal trip that usually would have cost a lot of money but ended up being very cheap.
Have you done anything frugal lately? What did you do? Do you find that when you’re busier frugality sometimes flies out the window? What type of frugality do you end up managing to include in your life even when you’re really busy?
