Delicious and Easy Mushroom Gravy Recipe- Gluten Free, Vegan, and Paleo

I love a good mushroom gravy. It’s good on just about everything, from rice to mashed potatoes to chicken to veggies to blintzes, you name it, it’ll be good together.

The thing about gravy is everyone assumes that it needs to have animal products (usually meat drippings or broth) in it, and/or gluten. But this recipe for mushroom gravy eliminates all that, without lacking in flavor. It is both gluten free and vegan, and easily can be paleo as well.

Oh, and did I mention how easy it is to make?

Definitely make this.

Delicious and Easy Mushroom Gravy Recipe- Gluten Free, Vegan, and Paleo

Ingredients:
1/4 cup oil
1 extra large onion or 2 medium
1 can mushrooms, drained, or one box fresh mushrooms
1 teaspoon garlic powder
2 1/2 cups water
1/4 cup soy sauce or coconut aminos
2 tablespoons potoato, tapioca, or corn starch
1/2-1 teaspoon salt

Instructions:

1. Heat up your oil.

2. Slice or dice your onions.

3. Fry your onions until starting to brown.

4. Add the mushrooms and fry until browned if using fresh, and for a few minutes if using canned.

5. Mix the rest of the ingredients together, then pour over the onions and mushrooms.

6. Cook, mixing often, until it thickens.

7. Serve hot.

Enjoy!

Do you enjoy a good gravy? How do you make yours? Does this look like a recipe you’d try?

  1. I made some gravy for beef stroganoff recently and didn't use any thickener at all because of a dietary restriction and what I had available. It turned out yummy! I used canned coconut milk and beef broth for the base.
